WATCH: Samantha Bee Brilliantly Goes After Democrats Whose Apathy Allowed the Rise of The Donald

Last night, erstwhile "Daily Show" correspondent and currently killing-it talk-show host Samantha Bee dedicated a segment to the problem that is Donald Trump. But instead of just highlighting all the things we already know are terrible about the billionaire presidential candidate, she went after the Democrats, whose apathy and low turnout numbers during the 2010 midterms allowed the rise of right-wing nuttery that eventually led to Trump’s ascension. Because that void, she notes, was filled by a different breed of voter.
"You know who didn't sit 2010 out? People who were old, and white, and super cranky about something,” said Bee, the image of the black guy elected in 2008 behind her. “And just as you’d expect when the voting public looks like the cast of Cocoon, they turned this country redder than Carrie’s prom dress.”
Bee notes that the fallout from those votes included 87 Republican freshman entering Congress, including a host of “unqualified and temperamentally unfit newbies,” who in tandem with other Republicans made it their mission to “block the cock of democracy.”
