Vluchtelingenstroom 17

Major climate action groups, including 350.org and the Sierra Club, were quick to point out that the text was notable as much for what it didn't say as what for what it did. 'The TPP is an act of climate denial,' said 350 policy director Jason Kowalski on Thursday. 'While the text is full of handouts to the fossil fuel industry, it doesn’t mention the words climate change once.'

What it does do, however, is give 'fossil fuel companies the extraordinary ability to sue local governments that try and keep fossil fuels in the ground,' Kowalski continued. 'If a province puts a moratorium on fracking, corporations can sue; if a community tries to stop a coal mine, corporations can overrule them. In short, these rules undermine countries’ ability to do what scientists say is the single most important thing we can do to combat the climate crisis: keep fossil fuels in the ground.'

Furthermore, Friends of the Earth (FOE) said in its response to the final text, the agreement 'is designed to protect ''free trade'' in dirty energy products such as tar sands oil, coal from the Powder River Basin, and liquefied natural gas shipped out of West Coast ports.' The result, FOE warned, will be 'more climate change from carbon emissions across the Pacific.'

'President Obama has sold the American people a false bill of goods,' said FOE president Erich Pica. 'The TransPacific Partnership fails President Obama's pledge to make the TPP an environmentally sound trade agreement.'

International observers were no less critical. Matthew Rimmer, a professor of intellectual property and innovation law at Australia's Queensland University of Technology and trade policy expert, told Fairfax Media it looks like U.S. trade officials have been 'greenwashing' the agreement.

'The environment chapter confirms some of the worst nightmares of environmental groups and climate activists,' Rimmer told the news outlet. 'The agreement has poor coverage of environmental issues, and weak enforcement mechanisms. There is only limited coverage of biodiversity, conservation, marine capture fisheries, and trade in environmental services.'

At a press conference in Berlin, the co-founding editor of The Intercept explained why a crucial part of the strategy of reporting on Edward Snowden’s leaked NSA documents was to find ways around certain media 'hurdles.'

'All you gotta do in politics is say the right thing, even though your whole record is contrary, and you’re on your way,' Nader says.

What we may be witnessing is not just the end of the Cold War, or the passing of a particular period of post-war history, but the end of history as such: that is, the end point of mankind's ideological evolution and the universalization of Western liberal democracy as the final form of human government.

and asserted too much 'hard-line' influence within George W. Bush's White House in pushing for the use of force around the world,

aldus de man die als Amerikaans president met massaal geweld de eerste Golfoorlog liet beginnen, en waarvan het ware doel was 'military supremacy to insure economic and political domination' in de olierijkste regio ter wereld, een streven mogelijk gemaakt doordat de macht van  'the Soviet Union declined,' aldus de Amerikaanse voormalige minister van Justitie Ramsey Clark. In zijn boek The Fire This Time. U.S. War Crimes In The Gulf (1992) schreef Clark dat de 'Gulf War itself was a key element,' in de Amerikaanse politiek om 'securing control over Gulf oil and domination of the regio.' Clark stelt voorts:

The American people, their economy faltering, their wealth more concentrated in a plutocracy than in any other rich country, were going to be told to forego health care, repairs to a crumbling education system, and other essential needs. With the decay of life in central cities, the disappearance of the family there, and police and fear of crime as the principal social controls, the resources of the country, $1.5 trillion within a few fiscal years, were to be devoted to a new military capacity to control the planet. Those expenditures, paid by the middle class and poor, would line the pockets of the plutocracy that controlled politics, the government, foreign policy, the economy, and through the media public opinion. The $1.5 trillion would also buy militarism and seek to dominate the planet for the greater wealth and security of the American plutocrats. The victims of war, to be sure, will be dark-skinned people from poor countries and Americans who live in poverty.

The media, owned by the wealthy, speaking for the plutocracy, has the dual role of  anesthetizing the public to prevent serious consideration or debate of such staggering human issues as world hunger, AIDS, regional civil wars, environmental destruction, and social anarchy, and emotionalizing the people for aggression, all without a serious military threat in sight.

(1) Regime change in Iran (1953) the Shah replacing democratically elected MossadeghEisenhower (R);
(2) Regime change in Guatemala (1954) military government for democratically elected Arbenz; Eisenhower (R);

De opsomming van Amerikaanse oorlogsmisdaden is oneindig. Zo is gisteren, donderdag 5 november 2015, bekend geworden dat:

KABUL, Afghanistan — A U.S. warplane shot people trying to flee a burning hospital destroyed in airstrikes last month, according to the charity that ran the facility.
'Thirty of our patients and medical staff died [in the bombing],' Doctors Without Borders General Director Christopher Stokes said during a speech in Kabul unveiling a report on the incident. 'Some of them lost their limbs and were decapitated in the explosions. Others were shot by the circling gunship while fleeing the burning building.'
The hospital in Kunduz was bombed on Oct. 3 as Afghan government forces fought to regain control of the city from Taliban insurgents

After the U.S. gave shifting explanations for the incident — which Doctors Without Borders has called a war crime — President Barack Obama apologized to the charity. The U.S. and Afghan governments have launched three separate investigations but the charity, which is also known as Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), is calling for an international inquiry.
Thursday's report added: 'Patients burned in their beds, medical staff were decapitated and lost limbs, and others were shot by the circling AC-130 gunship while fleeing the burning building.'
It also detailed operations in the hospital in the days leading up to the bombing, and said staff had noticed that more Taliban fighters were arriving for treatment.
'In the week starting September 28, [the majority of the wounded fighters] shifted to primarily wounded Taliban combatants,' according to the report.

Major General in the U.S. Marine Corps, the highest rank authorized at that time, and at the time of his death the most decorated Marine in U.S. history. During his 34-year career as a Marine, he participated in military actions in the Philippines, China, in Central America and the Caribbean during the Banana Wars, and France in World War I.

In 1933 verklaarde Butler:

I spent 33 years and four months in active military service and during that period I spent most of my time as a high class muscle man for Big Business, for Wall Street and the bankers. In short, I was a racketeer, a gangster for capitalism. I helped make Mexico and especially Tampico safe for American oil interests in 1914. I helped make Haiti and Cuba a decent place for the National City Bank boys to collect revenues in. I helped in the raping of half a dozen Central American republics for the benefit of Wall Street. I helped purify Nicaragua for the International Banking House of Brown Brothers in 1902–1912. I brought light to the Dominican Republic for the American sugar interests in 1916. I helped make Honduras right for the American fruit companies in 1903. In China in 1927 I helped see to it that Standard Oil went on its way unmolested. Looking back on it, I might have given Al Capone a few hints. The best he could do was to operate his racket in three districts. I operated on three continents.

It's really not a number I'm terribly interested in.
General Colin Powell, when asked about the number of Iraqi people who were slaughtered by Americans in the 1991 'Desert Storm' terror campaign (200,000 people)

I will never apologize for the United States of America — I don't care what the facts are.
President George Bush 1988 was demonstrating his patriotism by excusing an act of cold-blooded mass-murder by the U.S. Navy. On July 3, 1988 the U.S. Navy warship Vincennes shot down an Iranian commercial airliner. All 290 civilian people in the aircraft were killed. The plane was on a routine flight in a commercial corridor in Iranian airspace. The targeting of it by the U.S. Navy was blatantly illegal. That it was grossly immoral is also obvious. Except to a patriot.

To maintain this position of disparity (U.S. economic-military supremacy. svh)… we will have to dispense with all sentimentality and day-dreaming.... We should cease to talk about vague and... unreal objectives such as human rights, the raising of the living standard and democratization. The day is not far off when we are going to have to deal in straight power concepts.... The less we are then hampered by idealistic slogans, the better.
George Kennan, Director of Policy Planning U.S. State Department 1948.

If they turn on the radars we're going to blow up their goddamn SAMs (surface-to-air missiles. svh). They know we own their country. We own their airspace... We dictate the way they live and talk. And that's what's great about America right now. It's a good thing, especially when there's a lot of oil out there we need.
U.S. Brig. General William Looney in an interview with the Washington Post, August 30, 1999. Referring, in reality, to the brutal mass-murder of hundreds of civilian Iraqi men, women and children during 10,000 sorties by American/British war criminals in the first eight months of 1999.

The greatest crime since World War II has been U.S. foreign policy.
Ramsey Clark, Former U.S. Attorney General under President Lyndon Johnson.

I believe that if we had and would keep our dirty, bloody, dollar soaked fingers out of the business of these [Third World] nations so full of depressed, exploited people, they will arrive at a solution of their own. And if unfortunately their revolution must be of the violent type because the "haves" refuse to share with the "have-nots" by any peaceful method, at least what they get will be their own, and not the American style, which they don't want and above all don't want crammed down their throats by Americans.
General David Sharp, Former United States Marine Commandant 1966.

We have no honorable intentions in Vietnam. Our minimal expectation is to occupy it as an American colony and maintain social stability for our investments. This tells why American helicopters are being used against guerrillas in Colombia and Peru. Increasingly the role our nation has taken is the role of those who refuse to give up the privileges and pleasures that come from the immense profits of overseas investment.
Martin Luther King, Jr. A Time to Break the Silence speech given at Riverside Church New York City April 4, 1967.

Death squads have been created and used by the CIA around the world — particularly the Third World — since the late 1940s, a fact ignored by the elite-owned media.
Ralph McGehee, Former CIA analyst & Author. CIABASE; The Crisis of Democracy Deadly Deceits: My 25 years in the CIA.

The U.S.A. has supplied arms, security equipment and training to governments and armed groups that have committed torture, political killings and other human rights abuses in countries around the world.
Amnesty International, 'United States of America — Rights for All' October 1998.

Madeleine Albright says 500000 dead Iraqi Children was "worth... the guy who gave her the Medal of ...

U. S. Interventionism in Syria 2

No Moderate Syrian Rebels Exist

By Stephen Lendman

November 06, 2015 "Information Clearing House" - US claims otherwise are a complete fabrication. All anti-Assad forces are US-trained, armed, funded, and directed terrorists, taught the fine art of killing, committing atrocities and using chemical weapons - including ISIS, Al Qaeda, Jabhat al-Nusra and various splinter groups.

The so-called Free Syrian Army and other alleged “moderates” exist only in US and go-along media propaganda reports, willful misinformation to deceive an uninformed public.

Wars depend on lies to gain popular support, or at least no significant opposition. Often they collapse under the own weight.

Putin’s righteous Syrian mission shows the emperor has no clothes. If enough Americans pay attention and express outrage, Washington’s imperial Middle East agenda may falter, perhaps collapse. It’s already wobbly.

ISIS et al represent proxy US foot soldiers, imported abroad from scores of countries. They’re all legitimate Russian targets, all being battered by formidable air power to Washington’s consternation, wrecking its regional agenda - for the first time, a real challenge to its hegemonic aims.

Putin is effectively contesting Obama’s dirty game. Washington has no effective counter-strategy, increasingly transparent propaganda and dubious military moves alone, along with continued Russia bashing and fear-mongering.

In testimony before the House Armed Services Committee, two State Department officials repeated tired old Big Lies.

Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs Anne Patterson and her European and Eurasian Affairs counterpart Victoria Nuland committed perjury - claiming Russian air strikes hit 85 to 90% “moderate” rebels and civilians in areas with no ISIS presence.

“Russia's military intervention has dangerously exacerbated an already complex environment," Patterson blustered.

“(T)his has not been a Russian fight against terrorism so much as an effort to preserve the Assad regime,” she duplicitously claimed.

Nuland remains infamous for orchestrating the coup against Ukraine’s sitting government, replacing it with Nazi-infested putchists - responsible for aggression against its own people and virtually every imaginable human rights abuse.

Her testimony was a litany of Big Lies, saying Assad “continues to barrel bomb its own citizens with impunity, perhaps even emboldened by Moscow’s help.”

“The vast majority of Russian air strikes are targeted in areas where the Assad regime has lost territory to forces led by the moderate opposition.”

“We are accelerating the work we are doing to support the moderate Syrian opposition and to protect Syria’s neighbors” - code language of US supporting ISIS and other takfiri terrorists.

“(W)e are awaiting further evidence that Russia is sincere in its claims to want to fight ISIL and save Syria for the Syrian people, rather than simply protecting the dictator who bears direct responsibility for the country’s destruction...The quality of our cooperation with Russia in Syria depends on the choices Moscow makes.”

It’s hard imagining anyone believes Nuland’s utter disregard for the truth. Her public record betrays her, revealing her deplorable neocon credentials - supporting endless wars of aggression, responsible for devastating mass slaughter and destruction.

“What would positive cooperation by Russia look like,” she asked? Cease its military campaign, “insist” Assad pull back, work with Washington and its (rogue) partners for resolving things diplomatically.

Fact: No nation has done more to restore peace and stability to Syria than Russia - none more committed to endless aggression and regime change than America.

Fact: Russia scrupulously observes international laws, norms and standards.

Fact: America systematically breaches them, operating solely by its own rules for its imperial objectives, raping one nation after another in the process.

Who are the so-called “moderate” rebels Washington consistently touts? Where are they? Last month, Putin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Russia can’t identify them. Washington provides no information.

“From the very beginning of the operation in Syria, President Vladimir Putin and other Russian officials have expressed the readiness to interact with the so-called moderate opposition,” Peskov explained.

“At the same time, it had to be stated that attempts to identify the so-called moderate opposition remained unsuccessful all the way.”

“(N)o moderate forces can be spotted in the patchy mass of terrorist and extremist organizations that pose a threat to Syria’s territorial and political integrity.”

“Regrettably, neither the US nor European partners, nor somebody else has been able to help us with this identification. Other countries are unable to point to some moderate forces capable of taking care of a settlement in Syria. Regrettably, there have been no tangible results.”

State Department spokesman Admiral John Kirby claims some (nonexistent) “moderate” rebels switched sides. Hot war success depends heavily on winning the propaganda one.

Putin’s effective war on terrorism shows America is losing on both fronts. He’s the preeminent leader for world peace and stability.
