U.S. Nuclear Zero Lawsuit

Hi everyone,

A few hours ago, the Marshall Islands filed a Notice of Appeal to the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals in the United States. The appeal is in response to a February decision in Federal District Court granting the U.S. government’s motion to dismiss the nuclear zero lawsuit. The lawsuit, which was dismissed on technical grounds before getting to the substance of the complaint, seeks to hold the United States accountable for its ongoing participation in the nuclear arms race and failure to negotiate in good faith for nuclear disarmament.

A NAPF press release about the appeal featuring quotes from Marshall Islands Foreign Minister Tony de Brum, lead counsel Laurie Ashton and NAPF President David Krieger is at this link .

Various media have also picked it up, including this article from the Associated Press .
